Hej!
My name is Ingrid Svensson , I come from Lund in Sweden, and I will be spending the next three months in Swaziland together with my travelling partner and close friend Beatrice Lyberger.
I’m a 26 year old qualified nurse who dreams about one day be living and working abroad. I also have a longing to one day work fulltime within the church, hopefully as a deacon, to try and help people who are suffering, who needs compassion and love and joy.
I want to give you just a short story about me and my interests. I love music, especially singing together in a choir where we come together and experience great harmony, joy and friendship. In Sweden I’ve been involved in many choirs and different music projects within the church. I have no doubt that God works his wonders through the gift of music and I can’t wait to experience the Swazi music, rhythm and songs, especially in the churches.
I have lived in South Africa before, first as a young child and then as a teenager. I went on my own when I was 17 as an exchange student. I stayed with a host family and did half of grade 11 and half of grade 12, for a whole year back in 2006/2007. This year has made me want to see and experience more of the world and of different cultures. I unfortunately didn’t experience much of the church life during this time and I’m very excited about being able to be part of that during the next three months. I also hope to experience how the Lutheran Church in Swaziland is involved within the community and to be part of people’s daily life. I have a great passion for health care and if possible, I would love to see different areas of health care within the community, and to see different health departments that are supported by the church. Beatrice is studying to become a teacher so we hope to be able to see parts of the Swazi education programs and schools as well.
I know that me and Beatrice have many things we would love to see and do during this time. I also know that whatever we see, do or hear it will all be part a great life experience and I’m just so glad to have this opportunity to meet new people, a new culture and to share the Christian faith with people from all across the world.
I think this is it for now, I am super excited to be leaving tomorrow and I know that God has a great plan for us all with this journey and I can’t wait to see what that is.
Best of wishes to you all!
Ingrid
