Dumela!
My name is Julian Kaijser and I’m one of the participans in the exchange program Young in the Worldwide Church. Today I’ll begin my journey to South Africa and the city of Polokwane.
I’m 19 years old and earlier this year I graduated from upper secondary school where I studied social science. I will travel for the diocese of Stockholm as I’m born and raised in Lidingö, an island located just outside of Stockholm. Over the the years I have in several ways been involved in the work of my local parish, Lidingö församling. Mainly, I have been involved with the church’s work with youths and children.
During my exchange period I hope to experience a new culture, get new perspectives, meet other people and share daily life and faith. I’m particularly interested with questions regarding the society and I hope to meet interesting people from all of the society and to get the possibility to discuss questions like segregation and class. I’m also looking forward to compare the work of the Swedish church and the work of my ”host” church ELCSA (Evangelic Lutheran church of Southern Africa), what can we learn from each other?
I’m positive that this journey will be one best experiences I’ve had in my life so far and I’m so thankfull for this opportunity.
Yours truly,
Julian
